About: Churchill Academy is a private K-12 school for bright
children with unique learning differences. Churchill works with
occupational, speech/language and behavioral therapists to
create a tailor-made Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) for each
student, including strengths and weaknesses as well as personal,
educational, and transition goals.
Class Size: Churchill’s middle school has three classes with a
12:1 ratio and one with an 18:1 ratio. The high school class sizes
ranges from 4:1 to 16:1.
Career-based Programs: Practical Finance is offered,
which introduces students to the working world and also covers
job search, resumes, budgeting, housing loans, credit, savings,
checking, investing, and practical life problem solving. Career
exploration is fostered through online, portal-based instruction
in areas such as marine biology and paleontology.
Music/Fine Art: Students may audition for Churchill
Choral Singers. Art, art appreciation, ballroom dancing and
drama are also offered on a rotating basis.
Athletics: Tennis, track and basketball.
Academics: Churchill Academy is a unique, supportive
environment with individualized academic programming.
Churchill’s low student-teacher ratio, tailored learning programs,
remedial programming, and behavior management techniques
teach to students’ strengths and addresses their weaknesses. Detailed biannual progress reports, as well as training seminars and
other activities, are offered to foster parent involvement.
College Prep: ACT Prep is offered as a computer based
course, supplemented with a comprehensive text. The course
covers test preparation, test taking strategies, and academic
content.
