REASONS TO CONSIDER A PRIVATE
OR SPECIALIZED HIGH SCHOOL
Are you wondering if a private school is the right choice?
Here are some points to consider:
Smaller class sizes: Many private schools have a smaller than average class size and a lower
student-to-teacher ratio. The benefits here are obvious; fewer students per teacher means more individual instruction.
The college advantage: You may find that while public schools do indeed have great counselors, due to the size of the school or additional non-college prep duties, they
may be unable to give the same focus and attention the college admissions process.
Values and service: If you want your teen to have a faith-based education that
reflects your family’s values, a private school can be found to reflect and support your beliefs.
Specialization: Maybe your child excels in the arts, STEM courses, sports or is
interested in a military career. While you may be able to find some of what they need in a public school,
there is likely a private school whose purpose it is to help teens develop their passion!
