Erika Guthrie and Byron Simmons Named Edgewood’s Top Beauty & Beau Congratulations to Edgewood Academy’s Top Beauty, Junior Erika Guthrie and our top Beau, Sophomore Byron Simmons. Trinity’s Production of High School Musical “Bops to the Top!” Trinity’s production of High School Musical “bopped to the top” twith sell-out performances on all three nights. Over 125 students participated in this year’s annual spring musical, which marked Trinity’s 25th production, all under the direction of Mrs. Mala Kelley. The cast of High School Musical was one of the largest ever! Over 75% of the senior class, over 60% of the junior class, and 35% of the sophomore class comprised the cast and crew. Thirty-one students worked with Mrs. Becky Miller and Mr. Robert Chandler in the Set Design and Construction class over the last 7 months creating the sets for the grand musical. At the conclusion of the final night’s performance, the Linda Shands Award for Excellence in Drama was awarded to Sam Nunn. This award is named in memory of sixth grade teacher, Linda Shands, and is voted on by cast and crew for a three-year senior participant who reflects the same spirit, encouragement and enthusiasm for performance that Mrs. Shands shared with all who knew her. Shelby Shivar wins Prattville Essay Contest Baldwin Magnet Students Crowned Scholars Bowl Champions The City of Prattville is proud to announce Shelby Shivar as grand prize winner of the 2017 City of Prattville’s Fountain City Arts Festival Essay Contest. Participants were asked to write about the impact of arts in the Preferred Community. An awards ceremony was held on March 10 at the Way Off Broadway Theatre. Congratulations, Shelby! Dedication is more than just a word to the five members of the Baldwin Middle Magnet School Scholars’ Bowl Team. The five members come to school early, stay after school, and even meet on their own for two hours every Saturday morning at a local coffee shop to prepare for competitions. All that hard work paid off when they were crowned Alabama State Champions. The team will now go on to compete in the national contest in Dallas, TX on May 13.
