motto
Kelsey lives by these words: “It’s not how good you are, it’s how
good you want to be.”
her story
At Prattville High School, Kelsey shows exceptional dedication
to both her sport and her education. She handles her responsibilities as Varsity Cheer Captain and member of various school
clubs all while maintaining an above average GPA and taking
advanced classes. What inspires her to devote so much effort
to everything she is involved in? Kelsey credits her Grandmother and her Uncle Donny, who both have encouraged her
to work hard and “never give up on God’s plan”. In addition to
committing herself fully to cheerleading and academics, Kelsey
volunteers as a tutor at Prattville Primary School and has also
helped with the Relay for Life.
what’s next
Kelsey plans on following in her mother’s footsteps and majoring in Elementary/Special Education when she goes to college.
PG (parental guidance) rating
“My parents have made a major impact in my education and
career choices. My mother specifically has influenced my career
choice...watching how much she loves her job and how influential she is has encouraged me to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. My parents...have taught me that hard work
is very important.” She thinks the most important value she
has learned from her parents is how important strong family
relationships are, which has helped her to have a strong bond
with both her parents and her siblings.

parents’ perspective
Glenn and Pami Luker are inspired by Kelsey’s compassion for
others and her ability to take charge as a leader to get the job done.
They have always supported her and helped her to obtain the skills
she needs to be successful.
parent-to-parent
Kelsey’s parents suggest that other parents stay involved
in their children’s lives. Pami stressed the importance of
this, saying, “Make sure that you show interest in their
activities or things that are important to them.”
