quotable
“My motto is It is what it is. It’s just a reminder that sometimes
things just are the way they are, and the most effective way
to deal with problems isn’t by wallowing in self-pity, but by
acknowledging what you actually can do.”
her story
Sydney is very active in student life at Saint James School. She
is president of the Student Government Association, as well
as president of the French Club and Student YMCA Club. She
shares, “One of my favorite extracurricular activities is the
Peer Leader Program. As a Peer Leader, I get to help mentor
the Freshman Class and prepare them to have successful high
school careers.” Sydney is a co-editor on Saint James’ year-
book staff, and aspires to become editor next year. Outside of
school, she regularly volunteers her time and services to local
causes, such as the Montgomery Humane Shelter and the
YMCA. When asked how she wants to be remembered, Sydney
responded, “I think I’d like to be remembered as someone
who always gave 110% in all aspects of her life, whether it be
friendships, school, or extracurriculars. I strive to be observant
of other people’s feelings and accepting of their opinions, and
try to rectify the times I fall short.”

what’s next
Sydney explains, “I think I want to become a cancer researcher.
I’m really passionate about biology and helping others, and that
job would allow me to do both.”
PG (parental guidance) rating
“I’m very proud of my family’s kind-hearted nature. They
always strive to make others happy, and they don’t hesitate to
help when they see someone in need.”
parents’ perspective
“Sydney has a zest for life that you can see in her eyes and her
smile,” Kimberly and Brett share. “If Sydney is passionate about
something, she dedicates all of her energy to its success.”
parent-to-parent
“Love unconditionally. Guide them to the right choice,
and be there for them when they make the wrong one.
Listen without judgement. We were teenagers once, too.”
