cuisine appetizer trifecta party dips With its multiple layers of bold flavors all enrobed in porky goodness, it’s hard to beat smoked sausage when your taste buds are craving something with wow factor. Throw a few links of Kelley’s smoked sausage on the grill or cook them up in a skillet and then chop them into small pieces and serve with toothpicks and you’ve got a just-right bite. But it pays to go just a little further in your pursuit of deliciousness. Consider whipping up one of these dips that will push the simple goodness of your smoked sausage bites all the way up to great. They’re all easy (one only has two ingredients!) and are all perfect for a weekend party spread or just some Tuesday afternoon snacking. Adjust the amounts to make more or less; just keep the ratios the same. Sweet & Hot Sauce Mix ¾ cup grape jelly or jam with 2 to 3 tablespoons of your favorite hot sauce or wing sauce. Feel free to add more if you really like it hot. Blackberry BBQ Sauce 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 cup onions, chopped 2 cups blackberries (frozen work fine) 1/2 cup ketchup 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar Makes about 3 cups 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon good balsamic vinegar 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes salt to taste Sweet & Savory Mustard Sauce ½ cup mango chutney ¼ cup Dijon mustard 1 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives Salt to taste Mix all ingredients together and let sit for about an hour before serving.
