Dressing for back to school can be tricky in the
Deep South. Summer clothes are out, but it’s still far
too hot for a lot of the “fall” fashions. So what’s a gal
to do? Think transitional. Go for sleeveless tops and
dresses in deep, rich shades (ditch the pale pastels)
that can hold up under a light jacket when it finally
cools off. Neutral wedge sandals and in both openand closed-toe styles will work with almost anything.
And, as always, add finishing touches with
accessories, accessories, accessories!

stylize the classic black
Bright stripes make this flirty skirt a show stopper, and when
the temps drop, pair it with a heavier, long-sleeved top. Versatile and classic, jean jackets seem to stay in style, so if you don’t
have one, get one. And while you’re at it, grab a tassel necklace
too. Wear it alone as a statement piece or layer it with shorter,
more delicate necklace.

A soft watercolor pattern in jewel tones makes this shift
dress a great choice to bridge between summer and fall, as is
this navy skirted romper. Both look great with a light cardi
or jacket thrown on top. A fab eggplant bag adds a pop of
vibrance, and the chunky gold necklace adds some sparkle;
its shine really stands out against the romper’s dark color.
