At Gadsden State, students can earn an Associate in Applied Science in Court Reporting or Broadcast Captioning as well as a short-term certificate as a litigation assistant. WALLACE STATE-DOTHAN - Welding Technology The Welding Technology program prepares students for employment in the Welding industry as plate and/or pipe welders through instruction using simulators and hands-on welding. Students can complete the program after two semesters with a certificate in plate welding, or complete both plate and pipe welding. Graduates of the Welding Technology program may become welders, cutters, or welding machine operators. With additional training, graduates may become welding technicians, welding supervisors/inspectors, or welding instructors. The Wallace and Sparks Campus are designated Accredited Testing Facilities by The American Welding Society. Annual Salary Range: $25,780 - 62,100 LAWSON STATE - Diagnostic Medical Sonography The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program prepares individuals, under the supervision of physicians, to utilize medical ultrasound techniques to gather sonographic data used to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. The program includes instruction in obtaining, reviewing, and integrating patient histories and data; patient instruction and care; anatomic, physiologic and pathologic data recording; sonographic data processing; sonography equip- ment operation; and professional standards and ethics. Emphasis within the LSCC sonography program focuses on cardiac sonography. Annual Salary Range: $54,080 - 83,200 SHELTON STATE - Child Development The Child Development Program at Shelton State Community College supports the study of the physical, socioemotional, and cognitive growth and development of the child from conception to adolescence. This program prepares students to work with children and families in a variety of school and community settings. Certificate and degree options are available in this growing field that include opportunities as preschool and head start teachers, child life specialists, and childcare directors.
