44 | THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH SCIENCES
School of Health and Rehabilitation
The School of Health and Rehabilitation (SHAR) is both dynamic and forward-
thinking and offers a variety of programmes to suit the specific needs of our
Postgraduate students. Having excellent links with both our local healthcare
providers and our other Schools, we provide an extensive range of facilities
and academic teaching and support.
Our varied and flexible
postgraduate programmes are
highly regarded, supported by a
vibrant research culture and can
be accessed via full, part-time
or modular routes. Modules are
current and reflect contemporary
practice, to ensure our students
gain the correct experience to
support their academic learning
and on-going development.
Our academics and teaching
professionals are of high standing
and committed to providing a
rich educational experience for
our students, whilst providing
a friendly and supportive
environment. We benefit from
a diverse postgraduate base,
with students regionally,
nationally and internationally
recruited. This enhances
the experience and knowledge
gained and shared. Many clinical
colleagues use postgraduate
study to progress their clinical
skills and enhance their career
opportunities.
We are a research-led University;
it underpins our curricula and
much of the research activity in
the School is in association with
the Faculty of Medicine and Health
Sciences Research Institutes.
Academic and teaching staff in
the School contribute actively to
research and scholarship across
established and developing
health and social care agendas
in a variety of ways, including
neurological rehabilitation and
assistive technology. Having
academics and teaching staff

University has provided me with the opportunity to
learn from the experts in this field. Although the course
is challenging, this experience in Keele has definitely
helped me to become a more mature and evidence based
clinician in bringing optimal care to my patients back
at home.”
