THE FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES | 29
“Thank you for your interest in our vibrant and multi-
faceted Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Through our commitments to innovation and critical
independence, and our interdisciplinary collaborations
with colleagues in medical, natural and physical sciences,
our work is helping to transform the research and
education landscape and having a positive impact
on all the communities we serve.”
Shane O'Neill, Dean of Faculty
The largest of the three Faculties at Keele
University. The Faculty’s research and teaching
focus on the many and varied dimensions of
human experience and on the full range of
cultural, economic and social challenges we
face in a rapidly changing world.
We draw on our progressive heritage to promote theoretically
inventive scholarship that has the potential to transform the ways
in which we engage with one another as human beings in contexts
ranging from the local to the global.
Major Faculty Achievements
The Community Animation and Social Innovation Centre (CASIC)
aims to transcend the boundaries between academia and the
wider community through the application of knowledge that is
co-created.
The annual Live Age Festival, underpinned by research in the
Faculty, brings together fourteen organisations in Stoke-on-Trent
and North Staffordshire to celebrate creativity in later life.
