Keele is situated in North
Staffordshire, a short distance
from Junction 15 of the M6
motorway, just two miles from
the town of Newcastle-Under-
Lyme and around 5 miles from
the City of Stoke-on-Trent.
The nearest train station is Stoke-
on-Trent and is just 1.5 hours on the
Midland line from London Euston,
45 minutes from Birmingham and
40 minutes from Manchester. We
run a free shuttle bus on Open
Days from the train station.
By Car
Keele University is between
junctions 15 and 16 on the M6
motorway, and is just west of
Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-
under-Lyme. Use ST5 5BJ for your
SatNav for main visitor car parks.
Leave the M6 at Junction 15 if you
are travelling from the North or
South and follow the signs for the
A519 into Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The University is signposted from
the first roundabout. If you are
travelling from the East or the
West follow signs for Newcastle-
under-Lyme, and follow signposts
to the University.
By Coach and Bus
Coaches from many parts of the
country call at Hanley (Stoke-on-
Trent) and Newcastle-under-Lyme
bus stations. You can then get a
local bus to the campus. “First”
buses (Service No. 3/X3) and
“D&G” buses (Service No.85)
which run from both stations.
By Train
Stoke-on-Trent station is 5 miles
away and Crewe station is 12 miles
away. You can get buses from both
these stations and a taxi from
keele.ac.uk
Stoke station takes 15-20 minutes
and from Crewe 20-25 minutes.
By Air
Manchester Airport is nearest
to Keele and is about 35 miles
away, Birmingham Airport is 56
miles away and both airports
have regular trains and bus
services to the area. Gatwick
and Heathrow Airports require
some travel across London
and then a direct train from
London to Stoke-on-Trent
will take approximately 1.5
hours with coach journeys
taking approximately 6 hours.
