He says his photography is not so much about the art of the image as it is his increasing sense of urgency to capture the unique essence and beauty of Florida’s natural environment before it is forever lost. 30 NAPLES CONCERT BAND ANNOUNCES IT’S 46TH SEASON SCHEDULE Under the direction of Harris Lanzel, Naples Concert Band’s 46th season will feature powerful soloists and unforgettable music with seven regular concerts in the park at Cambier Park and two special joint concerts with the Bonita Springs Concert Band. 36 GREATER NAPLES LEADERSHIP, COLLIERS COUNTYS HIDDEN ASSET Founded more than 20 years ago by community minded people, Greater Naples Leadership (GNL) is today one of the largest volunteer organization in all of Collier County. “GNL members are proven, experienced leaders from diverse backgrounds,” according to Norman Feder, GNL president. 38 THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST Golf and gambling go together easily. Gambling among friends during a round of golf adds a pleasant edge to the activity, making any time on the links seem more important than just recreation or a walk in the park. After finishing on the links, time spent at the black jack table or roulette extends the interest just that much more, maybe with even higher stakes. e Mis- sissippi Gulf Coast, the nation’s third busiest gambling destination, provides world class golf venues and major casinos to ac- commodate both sides of the equation. 50 ENCHANTMENTS Between 1904 and 1913, Julian Dimock and his father, A. W. Dimock, traveled through southwest Florida taking pictures and writing stories about their adventures. During those ten years, they made at least ten trips to the area, often spending several months at a time. 58 BROMELIADS Have you always yearned for brilliantly colored plants to add to the garden of your home or landscape? If so, Bromeliads are what you’ve been seeking. Bromeliads, generally characterized by stiff, vividly colored leaves often coupled with heads of bright flower bracts, provide the home gardener the double appeal of colorful flowers and berries, and ornamental foliage that last weeks. 72 1/2 BACK GALLERY FEATURING HAROLD ROSS Portfolio Magazine highlights the beautiful scenery of the Blue Ridge. Southwest Florida residents have traveled to these cool mountains to escape the summer heat and return often to view the fall foliage, take back a fresh cut fraser fir for the Holidays or perhaps catch an early snow fall.
