or mirrored surfaces like her unique silver coffee table from Pace, adjacent sculpture and small black marble and mir- rored Japanese side table. Artwork is elegantly and playfully placed throughout Siegel’s home. Her own large-scale abstract paintings add visual drama and movement to the quiet, glamorous seren- ity of her silver and yellow living room, the sofa’s color picked up by the dramatic marble fireplace’s gentle row of flames. e horizontal marble bank Siegel designed to flank the fireplace acts as a showplace, a contemporary pedestal to mirrored and an iron sculptures on either side, with tall vertical windows creating exquisitely framed views to the garden. When Siegel bought the 30 year old villa, she decided to open up the walls, taking the 2000 square foot home down to its studs, and leaving two bedrooms and a large bath and dressing area private, while allowing the living room, media room, office, dining room and kitchen to flow effortlessly into one another. e large open space has dis- tinct areas for hosting friends for cocktails in the double height living room, watching a movie on the media area’s curved couch by Pace, making pancakes for her family at the large granite kitchen island lit by 6 blown glass fixtures from Lightology in Chicago, or working in her office out- fitted with the same custom dark grey wood cabinetry as her kitchen, all of which opens onto the pool. She alsodi- vided the double garage into two spaces—one for her art studio, the other for her white VW convertible. PORTFOLIO MAGAZINE 87
