“e concept of Timeless Restaurant is to bring the old Florida lifestyle into its new era. is is reflective in everything that our guests experience in and around the restaurant,” says Matthew. e jeep de- livery vehicles give a modern-day twist to beach style living. To say that this restau- rant is a breath of fresh air is an under- statement. It’s tackling some pretty cool concepts. (Delivering coal-fired, gourmet pizzas in a Porsche or Jeep one doesn’t see everyday). But when an architect is at the helm, envelopes will always be pushed. After all, it’s what they do. Creativity is in their DNA. Timeless Restaurant is relatable to the architecture of MHK homes in so many Chef David Nelson ways. Being old-Florida style and in essence it being timeless architecture for the region of South Florida. In keeping with the coastal cottage style house, at the center of the restaurant is the kitchen and bar area, which is designed to be a 3D model of one of MHK’s signature homes. Matthew hired the talents CJE Con- struction and Development and Interior designer Suzanne Costa to bring his vision for the restaurant to life. Features include MHK’s signature high-pitched steel roof, brackets, and off-white color palette making the interior of his restaurant an extension of his architectural language. e coastal cottage vernacular is a language that MHK Architecture and Planning speaks well. With many homes in his local Naples reper- toire, this language spills over into how the interior of his restaurant lives and breathes. Features of his restaurant mimic the many details that you would find in a typical MHK coastal home including: casual seating and bar area, intimate living room fireplace area, and indoor/outdoor bar. e setting is intended to be informal and even personal. It’s like stepping into an architect’s home. No detail has been left untouched. 54 PORTFOLIO MAGAZINE
