She also likes to work with watercolor and loves the way paint behaves when it mixes with water and paper. Laurel contributes to the Cayman Watercolors Calendar every year, which raises money for Cayman Hospice and the National Council of Voluntary Organizations. In 2013, she was chosen as the "Artist of the Season" by the Grand Cayman’s Visual Arts Society and was part of several local solo exhibits, making her a recognized artist amidst the island community. Laurél’s Simply Radiant paintings continue to be shown regularly throughout Grand Cayman at the Kennedy Gallery, Pure Art Gallery and the Ritz-Carlton, where she was selected as a featured artist in 2016. Despite her success, Laurél is as low-key as they come. She is calm, intentional and quick with a laugh. When not painting, she takes pleasure in the little things. Sea-salt caramels.
