Excellence In Action

Success in 2009
The City of Arlington moves forward with great optimism. We
will work actively to ensure the successful redevelopment
of Arlington, the Great Southwest Industrial District,
Entertainment District and Downtown/University District and
to further development along the Interstate-20 corridor.
We look ahead to onward progress - growth and expansion at
the Municipal Airport, the continued retention and success of
existing businesses, maintenance of our infrastructure and the
excellence of municipal programs and services that enhance
quality of life.
With optimism, we look ahead to a city of stronger, healthier
neighborhoods made possible by community partnerships and
collaborations.
While the national economy will continue to weaken with
bankruptcies and foreclosures, Arlington will continue to
closely monitor and evaluate the financial position so that we
can minimize any negative impacts that might affect city service
delivery.

We will continue to encourage our employees to assess
operations and identify areas where resources can be
reallocated or shifted. These challenging times motivate the
workforce to look for better, more efficient ways to do business.
Though the City will continue to face tough economic
challenges, we believe that under the leadership of the Mayor
and City Council, we will continue to provide the best service
possible.
We will continue to ensure that our reserves remain strong and
that the financial investments we make will improve service
efficiency and effectiveness. We are focused on Arlington’s
long-term and short-term financial health and success.
Arlington is preparing for a brighter future. We have
implemented strategies that are allowing us to achieve
community priorities. We are putting these strategies into
action. We believe that our work, the commitment of our
community partners and the involvement of our residents
will result in excellence.
