Having studied Fine Art at Oxford University , Lucy fell into polo by default , learning the game whilst studying and even representing Oxford in the Atlantic Cup at Yale University . This was , however , the beginning of a career with the sport spanning multiple facets from grooming and truck driving to polo secretary and General Manager at over four different clubs in the UK and five different polo academies . Slightly later in her career she became a founding Director of The Association of Polo Schools and Pony Hirers , a post she still holds , whilst also simultaneously writing for the industry publications Polo Times and The Polo Magazine .
After graduating from Kings College London with a BA in War Studies , Sam ’ s cameras have taken him all over the world , with images printed in The Times , Tatler , GQ , and Gentleman ’ s Journal , amongst others .
In his travels , British Polo Day ’ s official photographer , Sam has forged a strong relationship with a number of polo teams and clubs , and is frequently asked to shoot polo matches on different continents , with destinations including the steppes of Outer Mongolia , white sand beaches in Indonesia and fading palaces in India .
Ali Namazie had his first introduction to horses as a child at the Singapore Polo Club itself due “ to a happy accident of circumstances ”. He first got hooked on polo in his teens and , looking back , he counts himself fortunate that many of the senior SPC players at the time encouraged him and were generous with their loan of ponies for him to exercise and play . Ali is a Theoretical Physics Professor by profession , who has lived and worked at many prestigious universities around Europe and the USA before returning to Singapore to take up a post at NUS . He is still very passionate about polo , and cheerfully admits to being “ almost more comfortable around horses than people .” He is currently the Polo Captain at the Singapore Polo Club .
