THE CHALLENGE Point One was challenged with designing a new health center that would not only house an existing facility, but also provide flexible space for future growth. The project was designed to be completed in phases. THE DESIGN DNA PROCESS Beyond traditional building code and site analysis, we used our Design DNA toolbox to gain deeper insight into the needs and wants of the health center’s end users. During the Discovery phase, we measured and observed the use of the existing health center, along with other UCFS facilities. We got to know what worked and what didn’t through interviews, inventories and workshops. Our Balancing Act exercise helped balance employee wants against space constraints and program needs against budget. Another key step in the process was the use of Mood Boards to build consensus. Stakeholders were able to see colors, textures, materials and fixtures and take ownership of the building before its final fit-out. DOWNLOAD CASE STUDY POA H ealthca re
