super model tyson beckford

Male fashion model Tyson Beckford has been in the forefront of the fashion industry since his days as a Ralph Lauren model in the early 90s. Since then, he’s done a few acting and hostinggigs, but he never strayed too far from his modeling roots.

During an interview with news.com.au in Australia, the veteran male model offered advice to normal and plus size women. Unlike singer, actor and former male model Tyrese Gibson, who made negative comments about plus size women earlier this year, Tyson’s comments were empowering and inspiring.

“I think it’s great that we’re seeing a range of women now – it gives encouragement for women to be themselves, to not have to starve themselves to look a certain way,” Beckford said. He continued, “Not every woman is going to be a size zero. The average woman is not a size zero. A zero woman, it’s rare – the majority of the world (is) normal size. We’re not all built the same, and you don’t need to go starve yourself to look a certain way. I’ve worked with plus-size models, Lane Bryant is a brand I’ve done a lot with for many years, their women are great. If you’re happy with the way you look and it’s healthy for you, don’t worry about anything else.”

In addition to working with plus size models in the past recently Tyson shocked fans when he posed for several racy photos with model Ines Rau.

Plus size women don’t need anyone’s approval to be ourselves, but it’s a breath of fresh air to have a male openly voice their opinion in our favor. It’s even more refreshing when that opinion is one of acceptance and appreciation. -
