We are Project Runway “life-ers” and this season has been emotional for us because
it’s something we have been waiting to happen for so long. If you are the winner of
Project Runway, Season 14 what will this mean to the plus size industry?

I feel like this is what we have needed. It makes me so happy and proud of myself that I am one of
those people who are putting the plus size community on the map. I feel like we have people that have
been dipping in and out of the community and we just haven’t had that person as a designer to speak
out and say what everyone has been holding back to say. I’m just glad that the media is aware of us
even more now.

Do you feel like “plus-size” is no longer niche and is becoming more accepted as part
of the fashion industry?

I think little-by-little people are accepting this industry. It’s taking baby steps to be accepted and more
than anything being on Project Runway has been a positive step.

At the time of this interview Project Runway was on Episode 9,
since then Ashley Nell Tipton made it to NYFW.
