Her dreams were to be a competitive figure skater at the Olympics but life had
another journey for her to follow. Today, Vanessa is a working plus size model and
works in the entertainment industry.
How did you get started in the modeling industry?
I got my start in the modeling business via the entertainment business. To be
honest, I had been asked to model when I was very young. But at the time, I was
a competitive figure skater and all I wanted to do was skate in the Olympics. That
obviously never happened but my drive to be a performer never stopped. I eventually
was accepted into an acting conservatory in New York City called the American
Academy of Dramatic Arts. It is a school much like what is depicted in the movie/
TV series “Fame”. I graduated and was a part of their acting company, which was
an honor because they only hand-select a few people to represent their school each
year. I eventually found my way to Los Angeles where I met my first manager, who
got me into plus modeling.
