Super model Ashley Graham being featured on the cover of this year’s Sports Illustrated
Swim Issue became a worldwide story because a “plus-size” model has never been seen
on the cover before. Although Ashley may not particularly like the term “plus-size”, it’s
this very term that has helped her to see this day come to fruition.
This history making moment is one of many happening in our industry. While a few
designers included one or two plus-sized models in their shows during New York
Fashion Week, PLY Apparel decided to put their money where their mouth is and created
a spectacular show, which included models from the MSA Curve Division
and styling by celebrity stylist Susan Moses.
PLY Apparel’s Lamar and Pamela Nanton is what we would call a power couple; they
are not only passionate about bringing high fashion to curvy women, but they are
also seasoned designers and experts in their field. The show attracted media from all
over the world as well as other designers, bloggers and plus size industry experts.
