Before it was popular to be a plus size model, you were already a champion for body diversity in our industry. We’ve made great strides. What would you love to see happen in the future? I agree! We’ve come such a long way as an industry!! But I’ve adopted the attitude of “doer” rather than the one who embraces frustration and complains about everything. Complaining about a situation is far easier than creating a solution. I would love to see everyone exercising their creativity and skills to build a new reality. If your favorite label won’t do it, then do it yourself! If the agencies won’t do it, then do it yourself! If the TV networks won’t do it, take charge and do it yourself! plusmodelmag.com 6.16 #plusmodelmag inspiration + style We have broke down, for most part, the hardest barriers of embracing who we are and spreading ideas of self love, of shifting and changing people’s minds about what beauty is. We have defeated, for most part, the oppression in the sense of showing the world what the other options are, that we are here, not as a fad, but as women united in the name of a new age where self love is really the only way. Everything else comes along with it: fashion, television, cosmetics, magazines. Everything walks hand in hand. You don’t need a big corporation to expose your ideas, you don’t need a big name agency to become a well-known model, and you don’t need a TV network to show your ideas and talents to the world. So instead of sitting and complaining about what we don’t have, it would be awesome to continue watching people spread their own revolution, in their own ways and with their own power.
