punctual and organized, also being prepared. The fashion industry is
very fast paced; if you snooze you lose. I always keep in mind that there
are plenty of models out there who are also chasing after the same
opportunities as I am, and regardless of your popularity you can’t walk
around acting like a diva and showing up to a casting or job late.
Another lesson I learned is that the people who count the most
are the people who are all behind the scenes, from your agent, the
photographer, the stylist and assistant stylist, makeup and hair artists
to the administrative officials such as the marketing director, buyer etc.;
they work their tails off to help the model to do her job. Remember, the
model is NOT the most important person, he or she are chosen to help
the vision of the designer or brand come to life, so always being humble
and appreciative and knowing your role is key to the longevity of your
career as a model.
Everyone wants to know... what’s your nationality?
My ethnic background is East Indian; specifically I am Punjabi. I was
born and raised in California.
Let’s talk fashion... what are some of your favorite places to shop?
My favorite places to shop are stores where I can get a complete outfit,
without going broke, so I love Target, Macys, Nordstrom, Asos, and
H&M. I am a shoe addict and one of my favorite places to shop for
quality shoes is Shutz Shoes, and the only store they have in the US is
in New York, so whenever I am in there I always have to stop by… oh,
and Yellow Rat Bastard to get my T-shirt fix, I love T-shirts with clever
images or sayings.
