EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS 15 << Continued from page 13 IOPSA also hosts golf days for other regions, including Bloemfontein, KwaZulu-Natal, and Port Elizabeth. The golf days have been ongoing for over 20 years, each one being highly successful. “More people want to be involved with it, but there is a limit in terms of space,” Brown explained. He did say, however, that as a committee, IOPSA is exploring options of accommodating everyone who wants to be involved with the golf days. After a day of golf, attendees were treated to a dinner where the winners of the four-ball across 23 holes were announced and presented with prizes. Prior to the announcements, Brown kicked off the evening’s proceedings by introducing Lea Smith, president of IOPSA, who thanked everyone for their support. “It’s been a great turnout; thanks for the support you guys give to the Institute of Plumbing. From the manufacturers and suppliers, all the way down to the plumbers, thank you very much for your support,” Smith said. He also emphasised that it was the members of IOPSA that made the institution what it is. “It’s your input that makes our jobs so much easier, so thank you very much for that.” 1 2 Brown followed, expressing gratitude to the organisers of the event, Ryder Rollinson (Gauteng chairperson) and Dean Cane (vice chairman). He also thanked the players, sponsors, and all who attended. “This day would certainly not happen without all of you,” said Brown. After the acknowledgements, Brown proceeded to announce the winners of the four-ball match: • 1st with 109 points: Bosch Thermotechnology • 2nd with 108 points: Plumblink • 3rd with 103 points: Kwikot • 4th with 103 points: Rothenberger Tools • 5th with 102 points: DMS Plumbing • 6th with 102 points: Plumblink • 7th with 102 points: PBES • 8th with 101 points: Kwikot • 9th with 99 points: Comap SA • 10th with 97 points: Marley Pipe Systems Other winners were also announced from different categories, including longest day, best sponsored hole, best dressed golfers, and hottest plumber. They also had a business card lucky draw where the winners’ business cards were randomly picked from a bucket and presented with prizes. The evening concluded with everybody enjoying a meal, which was followed by more networking. Many who attended said that the golf day is an event they look forward to every year — many were already planning ahead for 2018’s golf day. PA www.plumbingafrica.co.za 1. 2.
