FITTING THOUGHT 1 Church starts on time In many industries, work is invoiced on the basis of labour per hour spent on a project. In today’s fast-paced rat race, time is precious and time is money. I had an engrossing discussion with colleagues around this, and we ended up chatting about invitations to functions indicating a start time of, for example, “14:00 for 14:30”. The diligent people are going to arrive at 14:00 and you know there is going to be a 30-minute delay for the function to start. The rest aims for 14:30, and then we always have the latecomers (usually with valid reasons). But actually, we are wasting time. Very seldom the function starts at 14:30, because time is accommodated for the latecomers. Retailers advertise to open at a certain time and they do; the movie starts on time; the church starts on time. Do we really need to be at a function or a launch 30 minutes prior to an event happening? What are your thoughts on this? A red-hot calendar event that will definitely start on time, is PLUMBDRAIN Africa 2018. This is a must-see show for all in the industry. As the only dedicated plumbing, drainage, sanitation, water, and sanitaryware exhibition in Africa, this event covers all facets of plumbing, from commercial and industrial to standard domestic plumbing products and services. Live demos and hands-on training will have visitors hooked on products on offer.
