So I’ve been following you on twitter for some time now. I’m so not into fashion; I’m still exploring that side of life lol But what initially made you want to get your degree in fashion design? Growing up in Nashville 10, I fell in love with fashion through magazines and music videos. I would obsess over my favorite fashion designers and what my icons (Missy & Kelis) wore but didn’t know how to get in the fashion industry. I tried a university and majored in Journalism, but that was boring so I switched up & went to art school and graduated with a degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising. School was great because it allowed me to explore so many areas of the industry from design, illustration, marketing, and buying. I had a few local PR internships and got the chance to intern in NYC. Do you feel like fashion has come a long way? Fashion has a long way to go. It is a very classist and elitist industry that can even lean towards racist. Fashion’s idea of diversity is just a trend and isn’t reflected behind-the-scenes. We are still celebrating “the first black” in many fashion positions. Recently, I’ve been infatuated with new London designers. My favorite is Molly Goddard and she is a GOD with tulle. Rihanna loves her too because she’s worn her pieces a few times and SLAYED. We all know Rihanna is slaying all day, all night, in her sleep. What is your favorite Rihanna outfit or Rihanna moment?
