ISSUE № 32, SEPT 2018 2 Kelly-Ann Arrindell Kelly-Ann Arrindell is affiliated with the Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association but currently sails for her college at the College of Charleston. She recently quali- fied for the single handed college nationals and place 2nd in her freshman year at the school and 3rd in her sophomore year. 2018 is the first year where countries are able to now qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Her experience to represent T&T is extensive as she was able to compete in two regattas in Florida (Miami and Clearwater) where she placed as the 5th female sailor in the Midwin- ters East Regatta in Clearwater. In California in the Laser North Americans she barely missed out to qualify for the 2019 Pan Am Games in Peru. AS she pursues her growth and development in the sport her next major opportunity to quali- fy for the Olympics will come in March at the 2019 South American Championships. In terms of representation she was the first female sailor from Trinidad and Tobago to ever go to the Pan Am Games and she was able to place 5th in that event missing out on the Olympic sport for Rio only by one point. At the CAC games in Colombia she managed an encouraging 8th place. This summer she was fortunate enough to go to Denmark for the World Championships which was the first qualifying regatta for the Olympics. Kelly-Ann’s interest in sailing started at 7 years old but it has long since taken her many different and interesting places around the world. She has travelled all over the Caribbean to even the Middle East, Europe and South America. In 2017 she had the opportunity to spend a few weeks being trained in Mexico. Her aspirations at this point are centered on graduating college with a degree in Exercise Science and one day making real her goal of representing Trinidad and Tobago in the sport of sailing at the Olympics.
