The LOK Jack GSB Runners
The Lok Jack GSB Runners started in 2012, as part of the Lok Jack
GSB Sports and Cultural Club. The group’s purpose has since developed
to create a fun community for amateur runners, and to provide support for those that are
new to running. Howard Dottin, a member of Faculty at Lok Jack GSB and a running afi-
cionado with another group, Mall Crawlers, creates a running schedule for the team to follow. Each year Mr. Dottin works
with the eager team and prepares the training schedule and conducts lectures on nutrition and the right running gear. The
group now has over 30 runners. Whilst the UWI Half Marathon remains the pinnacle of the running
calendar, the group takes part in a number of races throughout the year, including the RBC Race for
the Kids 5K and 15K, Guardian Shine 10K and 5K, Trinidad and Tobago International Marathon Re-
lay, Sea to Sea Half Marathon and a handful of other smaller races each year. The group at its core
consists of staff, faculty, students, alumni and friends. Apart from the Team captains, Vishyan
Mohammed, Captain of the Lok Jack GSB Sports and Cultural Club ensures close collabora-
tion between the school, the running group and sponsors for team gear. The main sponsor for the
group has been AV IT, who has sponsored the Half Marathon uniforms for the last 5 years. Currently
Group runs are arranged within the Lok

each week, and new runners are encouraged to show up, and run
at their own pace or try to keep up with the resident speed de-
mons. Although the group was created to build a sense of com-
munity across the various stakeholders of the school, it has ex-
panded greatly and the group welcomes anyone who loves to run
or wants to try a race for the first time. Contact Khalil Lindsay
