5 ISSUE no 30, JUNE 2018 A Fire for Competition Nicholas Gonzales hails from Sangre Grande has been racing bikes for the last 3 years. He has already represented in Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana and Trinidad & To- bago. His father worked with the traffic branch division for over 20 years. Seeing him lead numerous motorcycle Independence Day Parades; the skill, control and bonding between man and machine to become one, served his passion to get himself a motorbike. He soon came into contact with Nicholas Kennedy and Wulf Gerstenmaier, both instrumental in sparking his fire for competition at the recently refur- bished track at Wallerfield. His aspirations are for the sport to grow so the younger ones have an avenue to release their en- ergy within a controlled environment. He is already contributing by way of seeing Barry Luces a new comer to the sport ad- vancing exponentially with coaching from him and other racers. He believes that the sport can grow with more participants via multiple classes so various age groups can compete. Nicholas believes at first he did not have natural riding ability and he had to “put in a lot of work to get to the level he is at“. He won the National Mo- torbike Racing Championship in 2015 and he is currently the reigning Champion for 2018. In thanking his sponsors BIZOL Trinidad & Tobago, UNDSL, The National Gas Company, Mondo Racing, Fast Parts Racing, HN Racing and his lovely wife for her support he expresses that “life is such that your bad days should be seen as part of the learning process for you to have better days ahead.” gic Strate Web r fo l e n a P RENT Click Here or call Stay at Select Caribbean Resorts for 7 nights for 4200TTD in Total.
