Peter Sellier & Collin Pereira dominated at the Subway River Raid 10. The trails in the Tucker Valley, Chaguaramas came alive for the 10th Annual Subway River Raid Mountain Bike Race& Trail
Run hosted by the Rainbow Warriors Triathlon Club. Hundreds of eager runners and bikers, young
and old, took on the single track trails, through dry river beds and leafy canopy which were built and
maintained by a handful of mountain bikers over 10 years ago. Taking top honors in the men’s Open
class Mountain Bike (MTB) race was 16-year-old, Mike’s Bikes team racer, Peter Sellier who finished
his three lap course in a time of 1:01:35. Pedaling into second and third was Ryan Chin (1:04:11) and
Chris Govia (1:04:48) of Team Breakaway. Carolina Lugo was the only female in the open class and
she finished in 1:38:50. In the Sport class 14-year-old Enrique Pablo (47:28) of Heatwave Cycling
Club finished almost two minutes ahead of Adande Piggott (49:01) of MTB Kings and former triathlete/road cyclist, Scott Farfan (49:20). Gabriella Gooding (1:05:00) lead the way in the female Sport
class while Kiyomi Rankin (1:11:51) of Rainbow Warriors followed in second place and Anika Walker (1:17:07) in third. Collin Pereira had his
work cut out for him in the 5k trail run as he just managed to hold onto first place in a time of 19:36 with Tobagonian, Elvis Turner (19:50) in second and Shirvan Baboolal (20:00) in third, both hot on his heels. The ladies were just as competitive with Dawnel Collymore (22:21) just holding
off Lindsay Mies (23:05) while Gabrielle Lyons cruised into third spot in a time of 27:05. “I am very pleased with the turnout as it was better than
expected. Based on the feedback I am getting, it sounded like people had a lot of fun” said race organizer Jason Gooding. Sponsors included Subway, Gatorade, Blue Waters & Mike’s Bikes. Information courtesy Jason Gooding
