Playtimes HK Magazine October 2017 Issue | Seite 8

welcome O ctober is probably my favourite time of the year in Hong Kong. With the weather a bit cooler, hopefully drier and fewer typhoons, it’s the perfect time to get out and about. With this in mind, we bring you Hike On featuring six hikes that parents can tackle with a pushchair . Yes, there is such a thing as a pushchair-friendly hike in Hong Kong! We’ve even got tips on selecting the best buggy for the job. This issue has a Mother & Baby focus, so it’s full of useful information for parents-to-be and parents of young children. There is advice for new mums on how to take the stress out of returning to work , a round up of the best pregnancy pampering options (check out the great giveaways!) and some advice on perinatal depression. We’ve got top toys and books for young ones, and all the news from around town too. We’ve also got baby-led weaning advice from children’s recipe guru Annabel Karmel. Some 12 years ago, during my first stint as Editor of Playtimes, I made contact with Annabel to ask if we could feature some of her recipes in Playtimes. She was very happy to contribute to the magazine and so begun a relationship that has spanned many years. In addition to Annabel’s practical advice on baby-led weaning, we feature four recipes from her new Baby-Led Weaning Recipe Book, of which we have five copies to give away to readers! While I was reminiscing about Playtimes of old, I was reminded of an interview we did back in 2005 with the last governor of Hong Kong , Chris Patten. During his visit to Hong Kong last month, Lord Patten was delighted to sign a copy of the original Playtimes featuring his interview. He also took a very close look at the article, focussing particularly on his photograph before joking that he doesn’t think he’s changed much at all! 15th anniversary of Playtimes, which we will celebrate in the next issue. We look forward to sharing some of our favourite memories with you and would love to hear from you about any memories you might have too. All this nostalgia is not just a result of my getting old, honestly! It’s linked to the Until then 6 www.playtimes.com.hk
