Komatsu Mining also places emphasis on
its parts distribution capabilities. At its recent
Technology and Consumables Show, held at the
eMalahleni Centre, the company displayed its service
products, upgrades and consumables, including
shuttle car tyres and conveyor trains, continuous
miner crawler chains with grouser configurations,
crawler shoes for extreme mining environments,
and Montabert drifters and drifter conversions.
“We have also started generating service kits
for our equipment, such as traction gear cases
for continuous miners and shuttle cars,” says
Rob Kesztler, manager – Service Products and
Consumables. “The kits basically comprise a
wooden crate with all the relevant components,
including the nuts and bolts required to replace
the unit. The reason we have started doing this is
that this ensures a good installation, without using
stripped or damaged parts. These kits are delivered
along with every gear case, whether it is a new unit,
