AFRICA news CDE showcased 25 years of international expertise to West African mine and quarry operators at the ConMin West Africa trade show in Abuja in June. According to Nicolan Govender, regional manager Africa at CDE, ConMin is an ideal platform to interact with businesses that run sand and aggregates washing plants and to meet potential customers who are looking at wet processing to expand their current crushing and screening operations. Govender says CDE is fast growing its African footprint, with its best sellers including the EvoWash wet processing plant and the AquaCycle thickener, and more operators are choosing the CDE Combo, which combines both plants. The Combo has a capacity of 30–200t and a modular design to combine feeding, grading, washing, water recycling, and stockpiling onto one compact chassis. Local Potain Cranes distributor SA French is supplying a new Potain MCT205 tower crane to a Mali gold mine for general maintenance and repair duty to replace the mine’s Potain MD830 crane, which has been de-rated due to age. The crane will be erected in a configuration that includes a 65m jib, a 59.4m hook height, a 17.6m counter jib, and reusable fixing angles. Its lifting capacity is over 6t at 25m. “The crane will be erected to a hook height of about 40m and then telescoped to its final height,” says SA French sales manager, Louw Smit. The crane’s 60LVF25 hoist winch includes a new power control function that can lower starting power requirements to 38kVA from the 62kVA usually required if there is not sufficient power available on the mine without affecting the slewing or trolley function or the lifting capacity. The Atlas Copco Group has sold its global Road Construction Equipment (RCE) division, including the Dynapac brand name, to French construction company Fayat Group.
