TECHNOLOGY
Total Blasting supplies equipment for water jetting and hydrodemolition.
Both the T3 and T4 Series units are suitable for the most demanding of applications, as well as for
single or twin-gun operations.

jetting and hydrodemolition deployed to this
project for its duration. The company employed
hydrodemolition technology — specifically
developed for concrete demolition, and
imported from Europe and the US — to remove
deteriorated concrete from the structures
without damaging existing steel reinforcement.
Commissioned by WBHO, in partnership with
Sanral, the wider project included the complete
rehabilitation of the bridges in Rosebank,
involving major structural repairs. When it came
to the hydrodemolition aspect of the project,
challenges included limited site access (due to
the nature of the roadworks and construction),
and channelling sufficient water to site to feed
the pumps, which was managed by using
multiple road tankers to carry the water.
“Hydrodemolition is in its infancy in Africa,”
says Storer. “The success of this project not
only represents a well-respected client that is
highly satisfied with the work we have done,
but opens up opportunities for hydrodemolition
and water jetting in the southern African
concrete repair sector.”
