For those Lake County respondents who did not take any action (85), the three most commonly cited reasons were “Would not make any difference,” “Didn’t think I would be able to prove discrimination,” and “Didn’t know where to report the information.” In North Chicago, of the six survey respondents who did not take action when they experienced discrimination, half indicated that they did not know where to report the information. Of note as well is that 33 percent of the respondents stated that they were afraid of retaliation. In Waukegan, the most commonly identified reason for not taking any action was that the respondent thought they would not be able to prove the discrimination.
