Some people think a chip is different than a volley, but a chip is just a volley that bounces, so you don’t have to change anything. Abbreviated back swing, weight on back foot, ready to shift forward. What’s the Basic Idea? A chip is used to keep the ball low and get you moving forward to the net. Sometimes when you hit flat or topspin, you stop to hit the ball and then move toward the net; there’s no momentum pulling you forward.
