ickleball is a lifestyle—most jump in
with both feet. For many, jumping in
means becoming an ambassador. For
Paul Andersen, it meant starting his own
company—Amazin’ Aces—devoted to
introducing people to pickleball.
“It all began on a family vacation,” Paul says.
“We were playing pickleball and fell in love
with it. I’m in my 30s and my parents are
in their 60s, and it was a special thing
where there’s so much appeal across
every age group. Pickleball truly is for
everyone.”
Knowing there were already numerous
paddle manufacturers in the market,
Paul decided to narrow his focus to the
pickleball beginner. “My idea was to be
approachable for newer players—to make
the game less intimidating and offer great
gear at wallet-friendly price points,” he explains.
With his market research in hand, Paul quit his
corporate day job working 9 to 5 to start the new
venture. He developed a range of products aimed at

the pickleball beginner or pickleball-curious crowd, and
opened Amazin’ Aces, an online shop.
At Amazin’ Aces you’ll find paddles ranging from basic
wood introductory models to USAPA-approved competi-
tive models, with an emphasis on beginner and interme-
diate players.
“We pride ourselves on having high-quality
paddles for all budget and ability levels,”
Paul says. “New players get the pickleball
bug and ask us what paddle to try next.
We recently released our USAPA-approved
Signature model paddle. It plays awesome
and the designs are really fun. And at $40
it’s affordable for starting out, but something
you can compete with in sanctioned tourna-
ments.”
Everything about Amazin’ Aces is family
based, as the company is run by four mem-
bers of Paul’s family. “Our philosophy is to treat
our customers like we’d treat our family. We want
you to have a great experience with the sport and our
company,” he says.
