he 2017 SoCal Classic once again
proved itself to be the premier West
Coast pickleball tournament. With over
370 entrants—along with the highest
professional prize payout to date by any
tournament ever—the action by the
athletes and the spectator crowds on the
ocean-view sunset balcony was an awesome
sight to see. Daily on-premises BBQ, adult
beverages, and a center court filled with the
active play of Kyle Yates, Ben Johns, Aspen
Kern, Christine McGrath, Brian Staub,
Alex Hamner, Jen Lucore, Jen Dawson and
more made Bobby Riggs Tennis Club and
the So Cal Classic
the place to be
for pickleball
in June. Prize
money payout
was in part due to
the large group of
3.5 to 4.5 players
registered, along
with the premier
sponsorship of
Selkirk Sports.
