How many illustrations have you completed to date?
I am not very good with keeping records, but I would say
at least 200 illustrations if I had to guess.
Do you have any mentors or other illustrators that you
follow?
My fellow designer, Sabina from Design Garden, www.
designgarden.co, is a huge influence on my work. I took
a few online classes with her and my style took a huge
leap. As for my favorite illustrators, I love Izak Zeno, as his
style is full of life and energy, and yet so feminine. I also
like Katie Rodger›s art as her illustrations are so romantic
and always tell a story - something I hope to be able to do
with my illustrations sometime in the future.
Do you ever do fashion illustrations of yourself, friends,
or family?
It is funny you ask that, because I never did any fashion
illustrations for friends or family. I even had my husband
create the picture book for our wedding using online
templates. I never even thought of doing an illustration of
myself, I guess I think it would be a bit egoistical.
What do you enjoy the most about drawing and which
illustration has been your favorite?
I really enjoy using watercolors; it is such a fun medium.
What I like most, is that when I draw, I forget myself and
takes me to a faraway dream land. One of my favorite
illustrations is one that I did for an Australian blogger. I
love how the colors and characters turned out, so brilliant
and cheerful.
In addition to fashion illustration, what other type of
drawing to you do?
I design logos and branding, graphics for blogs and websites, clip art graphics, as well as wedding and children
illustrations.
Has your work been featured in any magazines, websites, blog posts, etc?
My work has been featured in Latina magazine and also
on photographer’s Sharon Elizabeth and Alicia Thurston’s
websites.
