Be prepared to be blown away with this wicked thriller now lighting things up at the Rio Theatre and can be seen on your home computers or televisions via iTunes and On Demand. Boys will be boys. How many times have we heard this excuse when certain liberties are taken. Throw a member of the opposite sex into the mix and sometimes things can get out of hand. When a simple crime gets turned topsy turvy sedate Portland and its environs play host to a macabre tale of confinement, revenge and horror. Smart and full of surprises director Dean Devlin delivers a knockout punch with a snappy tense thriller.● All hands on deck. Only in the case of a struggling mom it looks a storm is on the way. Smart and timely this realistic drama features some solid performances fit to behold, at select Cineplex theatres around B.C. Again Charlize Theron lets her guard (i.e. Natural good looks ) down to turn in a triumphant performance as Marlo. Stretched to the limit with two small children and a bag in the way she is at wit’s end. Married to a workaholic husband played rather aloofly by MarK Duplass consider this not too happy homemaker to be on the verge of a train wreck. Trust her wealthy brother to try to remedy an already difficult situation. To take a load off Molly agrees to bring in a night nanny. Ho would have thought that a seemingly hot to trot 26 year old knockout would have time to care for a new born, let alone i prove the overall lot of a family in the skids. Hats off to Mackenzie Davis who manages to light up the screen with a sparkling performance that perfectly balances the vibes thrown off by Mz. Theron. Given a great pitch perfect script by Diablo Cody whose ear for dialogue and ability to convert heartfelt realistic circumstances that confront ordinary people on a daily basis is second to none.
