PH 2nd least peaceful in Asia- Pacific , Nokor is 1st
The Philippines was named the 2nd least peaceful country in the Asia-Pacific by the Global Peace Index ( GPI ), with N . Korea as first .
GPI – the world ’ s leading measure of global peacefulness — on its 12th edition , revealed that the country ’ s level of peacefulness fell lower this year , with the country ranking 137th out of 163 worldwide , and 18th out of 19 in the Asia-Pacific .
In terms of “ ongoing domestic and international conflict domain ,” the country scored 2.408 , ranking 139th overall .
For “ societal safety and security
domain ”, the Philippines placed 141st , with a 3.131 score .
But the country ranked high in the “ militarization domain ” category with a 1.674 score , ranking 51st .
GPI attributed the country ’ s slip in the list to President Duterte ’ s war on drugs and the five-month Marawi siege
Ẇhile PH sunk in the ranks , GPI noted that the country “ showed very slight improvements ” in terms of peacefulness with its increased military capacities , and calming of tensions in the South China Sea . ●
