Zaijan reveals awkward stage , insecurities
Known nowadays as the young hero Liksi in “ Bagani ,” 16-yearold Zaijan Jaranilla first became a familiar face to Kapamilya viewers as Santino in the 2009 drama series “ May Bukas Pa .”
“ The best ,” was how he referred to his experience with his debut series , “ kasi doon po ‘ yung naging pag-angat ko , at natulungan ko ‘ yung family ko dahil doon .”
Throughout the decade that followed , Jaranilla managed to stay visible on television , despite the “ awkward stage ” of transitioning from a child actor to a teen star .
In an interview on “ Tonight with Boy Abunda ” that aired Monday , Jaranilla said he is grateful that despite that phase , he continued to be given roles by ABS-CBN .
“ Thankful pa nga po ako kasi binigyan ako ng ABS ng mga project pa , kahit hindi mga teleserye . Tuloytuloy po , kahit walang mga major [ roles ]. Dahil sa pagbubuti ko , nakita nila siguro po nila na deserve ko ,” he said .
Jaranilla admitted , however , that as he faced the cameras , he also grappled with insecurities that came with puberty . For one , Jaranilla was candid in sharing that his acne breakout continues to affect his selfesteem .
Now approaching his late teenage years , the former child actor said he is still learning how to navigate romantic relationships , referring to himself as “ torpe ” or shy when it comes to approaching someone he likes .
While he is still years away from building a family of his own , Jaranilla is looking ahead to ensure that having a broken one , as he had experienced as a child , won ’ t be the case for his children .
Referring to his “ Bagani ” costar , Jaranilla explained : “ Natutunan ko ito kay Tita Dimples [ Romana ] - - ‘ yung mga pinagdadaanan , huwag mong sarilinin , ibigay mo ‘ yan sa
Piolo Pascual as an actor and and a producer
Piolo Pascual is now busy as an actor doing two TV shows , the sitcom “ Home Sweetie Home ” on weekends and the series “ Since I Found You ” on weeknights . So when will he next do another romantic movie ?
“ May offer but I ’ m doing a soap so mahirap pagsabayin ,” he says at his launch as endorser of My Daily Collagen drink . “ Pero ‘ yung movie ko kay Lav Diaz , ‘ Panahon ng Halimaw ,’ showing ngayon in selected theaters . And I ’ m also busy as producer for my own company , Spring Films .”
His company produced the recent smash romantic hits , “ Kita Kita ” and “ Meet Me in St . Gallen .” Now , they ’ re coming up with four new projects no less . First is a movie on Marawi , with Robin Padilla . Then there ’ s “ Hayop Ka ! The Nimfa Dimaano Story ,” which is an animated movie about cats and dogs . The lead character , Nimfa , is a cat , voiced by Angelica Panganiban , who lives with a dog named Roger , voiced by Robin Padilla . They ’ re also doing “ Kuya Wes ” starring Ogie Alcasid for Cinemalaya and the launching film of the love team of his son , Iñigo , with Maris Racal .
“ For years , collagen is thought of as a beauty product and its actually super protein that serves as the glue to hold our bones , muscles , joints and skin together ,” she says . “ When we thought of someone who ’ ll best represent our product , iisa lang ang naisip ng lahat , si Piolo , as he ’ s the best in introducing a positive attitude to wellness .” ●

Yasmien Kurdi as a lucky wife
Yasmin Kurdi ’ s husband , Rey Soldevilla , celebrated his birthday recently and got a surprise from the actress : a brand new Honda car worth about P1.5 million .
Her fans say her husband is so fortunate to have her as his wife .
“ Suwerte rin naman ako sa husband ko ,” says Yasmien when we visited her on the taping of her hit afternoon show , “ Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka .”
She herself wrote about her husband in her social media account : “ I am so grateful I married a man as wonderful as you . Ang swerte ko kasi ang pogi mo , mabait , generous at super humble na tao . I hope you never change in life , because you are absolutely perfect the way you are . I love you so much ! Happy Birthday , Pangga .”
They met in 2006 when she was turning 17 . They ’ ve been married for six years .
“ Flight attendant siya sa PAL . Seven years older siya sa ’ kin . He ’ s 36 now and 29 ako . Bumalik siya sa pag-aaral para maging pilot . First officer siya ngayon to the captain in international flights sa Cebu Pacific .”
Their marriage is pretty stable . “ We support each other . We always communicate . Wala kaming inggitan . We always think we ’ re allies bilang mag-asawa at hindi kami nagkocontest .”
Yasmien is happy “ Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka ,” has just been extended . “ Yes , kaya we ’ re thanking lahat ng viewers na nanonood sa amin . Lahat ng paghihirap namin sa show has paid off . Sa pambubugbog sa ’ kin dito ni Tita Gina Alajar as my mother-in-law and Jackie Rice as Ava , one time , nagputok ang labi ko . Nagdugo . Pero okay lang , hindi maiiwasan ang magkasakitan sa ganyang scenes .” ●

Bianca , Miguel show gets an extension
Bianca Umali & Miguel Tanfelix are understandably elated since their hit primetime show , “ Kambal , Karibal ” gets another extension . Earlier , it was announced that it will be airing until June but now , it ’ s extended again and it will run until August . The series started airing in November last year so that means they will have a record run of nine months instead of the usual 13 weeks or three months .
“ Siempre , masayang-masaya po kaming lahat sa show dahil tuloytuloy lang ang taping namin ,” says Bianca . “ Nagpapasalamat kaming lahat sa loyal viewers ng ‘ Kambal , Karibal ’ sa patuloy na pagsuporta nila sa aming programa at sana , patuloy silang tumutok kasi mas lalo pang gaganda at magiging more intriguing ang next few episodes namin .”
“ Kambal , Karibal ” revolves on sisters Crisanta ( Bianca ) and her dead twin Criselda ( Pauline Mendoza ), so we ask the stars how their relationship is with their own siblings .
“ I learn different insights from every single one of them ,” says Bianca . “ It ’ s amazing how different we are from one another , yet we understand , love and embrace our differences and similarities . We have varied stories to tell and diverse experiences to share , which make our family more colorful than it already is .”
“ Since I ’ m the one who ’ s older , I realize that I need to be a good role model for my brother Yuan ,” says Miguel . “ I need to be strong for him and always do what ’ s right to set a good example .” ●
