Philippine indie films continue to make waves in international film festivals .
• Fatima Maria Torres and the Invasion of Space Shuttle Pinas 25 , written , edited and directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad , won Best Comedy in the recently-concluded 26th Annual Aspen Shortsfest in Colorado , USA . Manatad received a $ 2,500 cash prize .
• Louie Ignacio ’ s Area received the Special Jury Remi Award ( Theatrical Feature Film Production - Docu Drama ) in the 50th Worldfest

Meanwhile , nine films were officially selected to compete in the fifth Asian International Film Festival and Awards in Kuching , Malaysia , May 4 to 6 . Gala awards night is set for May 6 at the Pullman Hotel .

Ogie Alcasid ’ s new job : Bodyguard-manager
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid has a new job – as bodyguardmanager to daughter Liela who is now bent on entering showbiz .
Leila is Ogie ’ s eldest daughter with first wife Michelle van Eimeren who was former Miss Australia .
“ Talagang pursigido siyang mag-artista , so ako magiging bodyguard niya at manager and all ,” Ogie said in a recent interview .
Leila came over to the Philippines a few months ago to live with his father Ogie , subsequently announcing her intention to join the local entertainment industry .
“ Walang tayong magagawa , its her desire to go into acting . Actually , pati si Sarah ( Leila ’ s sister ) gusto rin niya mag-showbiz but we have a deal that she should finish high school first ,” Ogie said .
About Leila , “ Nagbago isip niya , dati pinag aaralan niya English Literature , magaling siya magsulat . Dito na siya mag-a-aral , maybe sa UP kasi sa UP naman ako , o sa Ateneo , pero wala ako kilala dun .
“ Mass Communication siguro kukunin niya . But she ’ s really interested in pursuing an acting career now . Sabi naman ng acting coach niya , itong anak mo , meron siya , pag-aralin mo siyang mabuti sa Tagalog . And in fairness naman , she ’ s trying her best to learn how to speak Tagalog . Well , nawawala na accent niya .” ●
Laki Sean ’ s 1st Birthday Celebration
Laki Sean 1st Birthday celebration was held on April 22 , 2017 at his Grandma Vangie house . The birthday celebrant was showered with gift by his family and friends . Lots of delicious food with lechon , seafood and Filipino sweets for dessert for the guests to enjoy and there was also karaoke singing throughout the night . Laki Sean and his Mom welcome the guests with Grandma Vangie and Gina . Seen at the party were members of the Luzvimin Bisaya and some close friends of the family .
