Netizens praise
Coney Reyes ’70s
throwback photo
Seasoned drama actress Co-
ney Reyes proved she’s a sterling
beauty in her hey days with a pho-
to she recently posted of herself
circa 1975.
She credited the photo from
a certain Lynn Rama. The photo
was taken during the ’70s back
when she hosted noontime “Stu-
dent Canteen” when it first aired
on GMA 7 in 1975.
Reyes was looking very young
and all regal in her distinctly ’70s
fashion. The photo was shot in
black and white.
In the early ’80s, she left “Stu-
dent Canteen” for what would later
be the longest running noontime
show, “Eat Bulaga”.
It was where she met origi-
nal “Eat Bulaga” host Vic Sotto
whom she had a son with, now
Pasig Councilor Vico Sotto.
She was however mostly re-
membered for her long-running
award-winning drama anthology
“Coney Reyes on Camera” which
spanned airtime from 1984-
1998.
She is still regularly seen on
drama series playing both villain
and supporting roles.●

Alden Richards to
pair with Jasmine
Curtis-Smith?
Next year will likely see a new pairing
– that of Alden Richards and Jasmine Curtis-
Smith.
Well, that’s what a source told this writer.
Jasmine’s digital contract with TV-5 is said to
expire and the source claimed negotiations
have already been done between Jasmine’s
management, Vidanes Artist Management
headed by Betchay Vidanes, and GMA-7.
Neither camp has said anything about it at it
this point.
The source added that the signing of
the contract between Jasmine’s and Alden’s
camps will happen as soon as possible. An
item stipulated in the supposed contract with
the Kapuso network is a soap opera starring
the two.
Incidentally, Alden and Jasmine were ini-
tially paired in a movie that was supposed to
be filmed three years ago. But the AlDub love
team of Alden and Yaya Dub (Maine Men-
doza) was born after they clicked together on
noontime show “Eat! Bulaga.”
Of course, the managers of Alden and
Maine capitalized on their very strong screen
presence in the noontime show’s kalyeserye.
This resulted in numerous TV commercials
and print ads for the pair. They also starred in
their first movie “My Bebe Love#KiligPaMore”
then in their first solo film “Imagine You and
Me.”
Two years after their love team was born,
Alden and Maine starred on the rom-com
teleserye “Destined to Be Yours” which aired
for one season (13 weeks).
Jasmine, the younger sister of Anne Cur-
tis, starred on the teleserye version of “Ang
Utol Kong Hoodlum,” and “Nandito Ako”
with Eula Caballero and “American Idol” sea-
son 7 runner-up David Archuleta.
In 2013, Jasmine played a migrant work-
er daughter in “Transit,” an independent film
written and directed by Hannah Espia.
Jasmine is cast in “Siargao,” one of the
official entries in this year’s Metro Manila Film
Festival. The movie also stars Jericho Rosales
and Erich Gonzales.●
