Known also by the name Elser 13 Minutes explores a botched attempt on Adolph Hitler ’ s life . Mild-mannered Georg Elser may well be the furthest thing from a full-fledged killer in much the same way the best spies keep a low profile . Sorry James or should I say 007 . On pins and needles from the word go is the display of emotion and devotion bundled up in Christian Friedel ‘ s performance .
Born into a relatively good family we see Georg ’ s early awkwardness with girls ultimately leading to him sowing his seeds among the village where he grows up and lives in . Now all grown up and respected Georg can ’ t believe the pain those non Aryan supporters are feeling in his town as the Nazi killing machine tightens its grip on power . Against this backdrop the lone crusader decides to clandestinely bomb Hitler into oblivion .
News of the attack travels fast so when the dreaded Gestapo sees the aftermath of the assault it doesn ’ t take long for them to put the screws to Georg . Strong stomachs will be needed to overcome the brute force directed onto this freedom fighter who tried to change history .
