Election fever is in the air &
almost everywhere. The Multicultural
Helping House Society or MHHS is
holding its own general election for its
Board of Directors for the year 20162018. It will be held in June 18, 2016,
Saturday, at the Multi-purpose room
of the Resource and Employment
Centre from 1pm to 4pm. According
to our constitution, the list of qualified
candidates and qualified voters will be
released by the Comelec Committe to
the General Membership seven days
before the election.
As we grow and expand our
services in the Philippines, part of Asia
and throughout Canada, we need
to bring in people with additional
experiences and skills to augment
the expertise and personal affiliation
of our present Board to be able to
meet the needs and challenges of
our growing new immigrants and the
requirements of our government and
other funders.
We have listed several criteria
or qualifications for people who
want to apply to become members
of our Board of Directors. They can
be found in the Application form that
we provide to our applicants. Among
those criteria, however, is one very
important qualification which states
the following:
A Candidate must be a member

in good standing of MHHS for two
consecutive years. According to our
constitution article III;
a) He/She must participate in at
least three functions/ activities of the
Society in a calendar year.
b)
He/She must also
volunteer his/her expertise to assist
others in the society.
When we examine and look
at our applicants, we ask this most
important question. What has he/she
done for the MHHS during the past
two consecutive years that he/she has
been a member? Has the applicant
shown or demonstrated enough
willingness and action to dedicate his
time, energy and talent to promote the
vision and mission of the Society? How
much contribution has he/she done to
the MHHS in terms of volunteer work
to help the Society?
In short, it is not enough to just
be a member paying your membership
dues and simply attending meetings
and events to qualify for the MHHS
Board Member position.
We encourage future aspiring
applicants to our Board to do some
volunteer works at MHHS. We are
looking for people who share our vision
and mission to help other especially
our new immigrants, caregivers and

Taunang Pagpupulong (7th Annual
General Meeting or AGM) ng mga
may-ari at kasapi ng One Filipino
Cooperative of BC. “Abot-Kamay
ang Tagumpay” ang magiging tema
ng pagpupulong na kung saan
nakapaloob sa 5 Year Development
Plan ng samahan ang isa sa mga
pangarap na proyekto na makabuo ng
isang Filipino Housing Cooperative.
Sa taong ito ang magiging simula
ng mga pag-aaral, pagsasaliksik
at pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga
ahensiyang pribado at gobyerno
para makapagbigay gabay at
technical support sa mga opisyales
ng FilCo-op sa pangunguna ng
kasalukuyang Pangulo na si G.
Tony Calderon. Si G. Jimmy Rico
na dating board member ng FilCoop ang volunteer consultant. Si Mr.
Rico ay kasalukuyang Manager ng
Asset Management Services and

Ang Taunang Pagpupulong
ang isa sa pinakamahalagang gawain
ng isang kooperatiba dahil dito ay
nag-uulat ang mga opisyales ng
samahan sa nagdaang taong takbo
ng operasyon at pamamahala nito
sa pang negosyo at pang samahang
aspeto. Dito rin naghahalal ng mga
bagong opisyales tulad ng Board
of Directors of mga members
ng standing committees tulad
ng credit committee, audit and
inventory committee at election
committee. Inaabangan din dito
ang pamamahagi ng kinita sa mga
may-ari sa taong 2015 na naaayon
sa Profit Sharing at Patronage
Refund cooperative principle.
