Coffee or Beer? Kris Aquino invites Paolo Duterte
Actress and host Kris Aquino on
Tuesday took to social media to invite
President Rodrigo Duterte’s eldest
son, Paolo, for a coffee or beer.
Aquino’s invite came a week af-
ter the resigned Davao Vice Mayor crit-
icized her family and commented on
the commemoration of EDSA People
Power Revolution. Duterte mentioned
Aquino in his post, saying she should
stop being dramatic and should just
play PlayStation4.
Duterte’s post also indicated
that “the commemoration of EDSA
is a reminder of a broken promise 30
years since.” It cited the “two Aquinos
and the corruption that prevailed,” re-
ferring to the late President Corazon
“Cory” Aquino and his father’s pre-
decessor, former President Benigno
“Noynoy” Aquino III.
Aquino, subsequently, replied
to the post and clarified she does not
know how to play PS4. Her brother
was previously criticized after rumors
surfaced that he was allegedly busy
playing video games at the height of
the Manila hostage crisis in 2010,
which he later on denied.
The actress-host said she in-
vited Duterte so that she can get
to know him properly and promise
there would be no drama during
their meeting. She explained that
she made the invite online as she
already saw an “opportunity to open
communication lines.”
“To the best of my knowledge
we have never actually met or been
personally introduced,” Aquino said
adding that she only met the current
president and his daughter, Kitty.
“I have no agenda other than
the desire for you to personally get
to know me & vice versa... Too much
bad blood has already been manufac-
tured between our families... We have
the chance to hear each other out,”
the former president’s daughter said.
Aquino said she would rather
be rejected than regret not inviting
Duterte. She also said she would re-
spect the president’s son if he would
decline her invite.
“Hihiram ako ng linya kay Ju-
lia Roberts from Notting Hill (but of
course rewriting it to suit our particu-
lar situation): i’m just a girl, unfortu-
nately not standing in front of a boy,
but doing it via social media- asking
him to give getting to know her per-
sonally a chance... I shall await your
decision & pray that my effort won’t
be snubbed,” Aquino wrote.
Aquino also earlier addressed
trolls and fake news purveyors who
are discrediting the legacy of her
mother amid the r
