Multicultural Helping House Society has been embracing the role as a bridge to all Filipinos migrating to Canada . Through its various services ranging from pre-arrival to settlement , MHHS has performed the role of a bridge that connects the new immigrant between their roots to their Canadian destination . That is , MHHS maintains and strengthens that bond between the Filipino individual , his or her Filipino culture and heritage , and his or her adopted Canadian multicultural beginnings . In doing so , it is ensured that the Filipino remains deeply rooted while venturing into Canada as the new destination .
MHHS through its program , Pathways to Canada , conducts group sessions Wednesday with the help of various speakers of different backgrounds . The Pathways orientation team , comprised of Predeparture orientation officers together with Michael Cayetano VP MHHS and successful Filipino-Canadian
professionals , deliver comprehensive orientation seminars to help build this bridge of migration . These seminars offer the essentials of migrating to Canada and continue to visiting personal challenges that are common among newcomers focusing on job search strategies and community integration in general .
This past February 14th saw Pathways to Canada conduct an orientation seminar to new Canadian immigrants destined for the provinces of Saskatchewan , Ontario , and British Columbia . The orientation seminar this day was facilitated by Dr . Danny Salcedo who is a successful licensed dental practitioner practicing in the Greater Vancouver Area and who operates his own dental clinic in the City of New Westminster . Dr . Salcedo , his colleagues of Canadian professional dentists , and a team of dental support staff provide annual dental treatment to Filipinos living in impoverished communities in

lecturer also identified five interrelated disciplines of a learning culture : 1 ) personal mastery , which allows goals to be developed and realized together ; 2 ) mental models , which challenges and changes our way of thinking about the world around us ; 3 ) shared vision , which creates a sense of collective commitment and purpose ; 4 ) team learning , which builds a group ’ s capacity to learn and develop geometrically , and finally ; 5 ) systems thinking , which develops the ability to see the big picture at all times , and understand all the links that bind the parts together .

the Philippines through the nonprofit Canadian-based Caring Hearts Society . This , Dr . Salcedo states , is his way of giving back to his roots . And this , Dr . Salcedo offers , is what strengthens him to successfully continue in this Canadian journey .
Dr . Salcedo took some time to help the Pathways team navigate through the migration bridge that day . Everyone had their own expectations and dealt with different emotions particularly anxiety . Dr . Danny Salcedo helped the group navigate by sharing his real life struggles and how he made himself an asset to the Canadian community .
Dr . Salcedo , a licensed dentist of BC , started by giving an overview of his foundation as a dental practitioner , how he widened his field of expertise , and how he went out of his comfort zone to indulge in new possibilities that can bring a better opportunity for his future . Through hard work , continued learning , and

determination , Dr . Salcedo shared that he operates his dental clinic alongside his Holistic Wellness Center . His determination has become a new hope for all participants . He has built a strong foundation which he wants to pass on to all incoming migrants .
Dr . Salcedo imparted this advice to Canada ’ s newest immigrants :
“ Life is like a wheel , don ’ t allow yourself to stay at the bottom . Instead , control that wheel so that it spins you back to the top . This is done by commitment , continued learning , and hard work and dedication . And , when you reach the top , maintain your position . From the top , don ’ t fail to give back . Always remember your roots and maintain your direction . Stay on that bridge and you won ’ t fail . And always practice those Filipino practices that are held dear by Filipinos such as the customary manner of respect that Filipino youth afford their elders .”
