PHILVETS CELEBRATION OF BATAAN DAY “ ARAW NG KAGITINGAN ”
PHILVETS MEMORIAL & CULTURAL SOCIETY OF BC ( originally the Philippine War Veterans & Ex-Servicemen Society of B . C ) celebrated Bataan Day “ Araw ng Kagitingan ” on April 8 , 2018 at the Victoria Drive Community Hall , 2026 E . 43rd Ave ., Vancouver , B . C .
Speaking on behalf of the President , Mr . Fernando P . Salanga , Philvets Vice President , Ruben Dioquino said in his welcome address “ This celebration is our way of paying tribute and expressing our sympathy , eternal gratitude and affirmation that we have not forgotten the thousands of Filipino and American soldiers who displayed extraordinary gallantry and courage beyond the call of duty in defending Bataan and Corregidor in
1942 .”
Consul Arlene T . Magno of the Philippine Consulate was the Guest of Honor .
Leaders of the different Filipino organizations representing the Confederation of Filipino Canadian Associations ( CONFICA ); Mr . & Mrs . Romy & Coney Mercado ( FYSS ), Ms .
